This is a one-of-a-kind work, giclee printed from a digital original and partially hand painted. The eyes are painted with acrylic gouache, and the shimmer can be observed from different angles. There are a total of four works in this series that imitate flowers, each representing a national flower. This work, "Chrysanthemum-Chrysanthemum," represents the chrysanthemum, the national flower of Japan. This work, the first in the series, was titled "Japanese Enyo" when it was digitally created. The name "Enyo" comes from "Euphemism," the wife of Puyi Aixinjueluo, who once ruled Manchuria. In the movie "The Last Emperor," there is a scene in which Enyo eats an orchid flower. It was a mysterious and beautiful scene, but when I looked up the meaning of the scene after watching the movie, I came to the conclusion that it was a metaphor of a nation being destroyed by the opium poisoning of Ei Yong, who eats an orchid, the national flower of Manchuria. I was painfully moved and decided to draw this work inspired by that scene. The above is how I started to draw it, but as I created the series of flowers, the satirical connotations faded and the production changed to simply aiming to be enjoyed as a painting. However, it can be said that this series would not have been created without the social background, since the sequel would not have been possible without this work.
