Olga Skorokhod's art is a profound exploration of the beauty and textures of nature, translated through the medium of paper. Her journey began from a place of necessity, working with affordable printer paper, which evolved into a deep appreciation for monochromatic, high-textured artworks. Hand-cutting paper became a meditative process, leading to the creation of intricate sculptures that evoke emotional responses.

Her works are characterized by strong rhythms between space and shape, with complementary color palettes that enhance the illusion of three-dimensionality. Inspired by natural formations, Olga's paper sculptures invite viewers to experience a universe of artistic expression, where the ordinary transforms into the extraordinary through meticulous craftsmanship and creative vision.

Olga Skorokhod, born and raised in Ukraine in 1986, has been passionate about art since childhood. Feeling destined to be an artist, she naturally gravitated toward creative professions. Throughout her career, she has worked as an illustrator, graphic designer, and photorealistic portrait painter on commission before dedicating herself fully to the art of paper sculpture.

In Ukraine, Olga experimented with various techniques and materials, striving to discover her unique artistic voice. She aspired to find a style that would allow her to develop consistently and gain worldwide recognition. This quest for artistic identity took a significant turn when she moved to the United States, stepping completely out of her comfort zone. It was there that she truly found her artistic calling.

Art is essential to Olga, much like breathing. The urge to create is a fundamental part of her being. Limited by a small budget, she began working with affordable printer paper, which proved to be the perfect medium. Olga has always admired monochromatic, high-textured artworks, and hand-cutting paper became a form of healing meditation for her. "If you are a professional artist and you have a sense of destiny to create, then you can make a piece of art from anything. It doesn't matter what materials and tools you use," she believes. Thus, her journey into paper art began.

Olga’s sculptures are inspired by the mesmerizing beauty of nature, focusing on natural formations and their textures. She aims to evoke emotional responses from viewers by sharing her universe through her artistic expression. Her work showcases strong rhythms between space and shape and often features complementary color palettes. The paper sculpture techniques she employs create an illusion of three-dimensionality, adding depth and intrigue to her pieces.

Today, Olga Skorokhod is a prizewinning artist whose works have been featured in over 50 exhibitions both nationally and internationally. Her art is part of private collections in more than 15 countries, and she has been featured in over 15 blog posts. Notably, her artworks have been highlighted on CNN Indonesia, and she is a bestselling female artist on Saatchi Art.

Olga's contributions to the art world are also recognized in publications like “The Paper Craft Ideas Book” by Jessica Baldry. Her paper sculptures were selected by the Austrian company “MM Carton” for their corporate Passion of Cartonboard calendars in 2018 and 2019, among 13 artists from around the globe.

Several students have written their diplomas and doctorates based on Olga’s works, and many teachers use her paper wall art to inspire their students to create with paper. "There’s no greater way to create a legacy than to influence others with your art and encourage people to create," says Olga. Through her innovative paper sculptures, Olga Skorokhod continues to inspire and leave a lasting impact on the art world.
