"The Paradoxical Nature of Material Hierarchy” An Ongoing Series
This ongoing series delves into the complex interplay of social classes within contemporary society through the exploration of everyday objects. It unveils the inherent contradictions and imbalances hidden beneath seemingly ordinary items, shedding light on the intricate web of societal hierarchy. Through meticulous hand-stitching techniques, the artwork conveys both the philosophical aspects of contradiction and the search for balance and harmony, drawing inspiration from the principles of Neoplasticism.
Objects serve as the canvas for projecting the modern social hierarchy and institutional atmosphere, their imagery reflecting the contrasting nature of these systems. By employing a visual language that combines elements of Cubism and minimalist composition, the artwork captures the essence of Neoplastic principles. The shapes, grayscale palette, and carefully composed arrangements within each piece contribute to a nuanced exploration of the Neoplastic relationship, subtly alluding to the complexities of societal structures and their visual representation.

Environment is very important for my works. I always see surrounding circumstance that changing everyday. I try to describe about relationship between them with my memory at that time.
Recently, I have been working on a photography series on the theme of manmade realities. These works piece together edited landscapes born out of the real and then displaced from their mundane environments to become part of an idealized and nostalgic world, fragments of a dream or a forgotten memory. My photographs portray empty, still and detached landscapes that open into a world removed from time. Drawing from themes of longing and isolation, I have created idealized landscapes that are devoid of movement; they exist somewhere in the boundary between the real and the imagined.

In the project “The Mall Project; Operated Reality”, the main theme is finding my memory between reality and imagination, both artificial and natural. Actually, I studied environmental engineering in South Korea. So I want to represent photographically that is associated with my major. I am making the project by combining my own point of view with ordinary people’s way of thinking. This project started with artificial lights connected to the process of making traces. I think man’s goal of existence is making artificial traces. In the present, humans make a lot of traces throughout their lives. They continuously make their traces. However, they might be unaware of making these traces because their trace has already become part of their everyday experience. There are many traces made by man and spread all around the world. These traces exist all around us. They might be famous structures, famous tour spots, or common places. I think all these things are man-made traces. Even now, mankind’s leavings continuously create lots of traces.
