My own experience of battling ovarian cancer led me to my current style of painting the world of light at night in oil and acrylic. By depicting light in the darkness of night, which is a symbol of death, I express hope for life. The playground equipment that often appears in my work is from my childhood memories of sparkling amusement parks. What I recall is the fun we had. The speed of oncoming cars that I used to watch from the back seat of the car when my family and I would often go for drives. The extraordinary feeling of the amusement park. The mountains of Hokkaido. Strangely enough, I don't remember anything sad. Currently, I am working in my studio in the forest in Hokkaido.
