I was born 10th September 1970, in city of Kharkiv (known also as Kharkov), Ukraine (part of the Soviet Union at the time). When I was a kid I loved to paint and make drawings – with pencils, chalks and watercolours. When I was twelve, I had a trip to Moscow where I visited The State Tretyakov Gallery (www.tretyakovgallery.ru/en/). I was extremely impressed by the Mikhail Vrubel painting – The Demon Seated in a Garden, 1890 (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikhail_Vrubel). At that moment, I decided that I wanted to become a painter. Later that year I started to study in a visual arts studio (school) in a local Pioneers’ House. My teacher, Lyudmila (Olegovna) Bondar became my first and the main teacher in visual art and in my life (she became my godmother). I’ve twice won the City’s kids painting competition «Nature through children’s eyes». After finishing secondary school in1985, I entered the Kharkiv Art College (hhu.com.ua/). I studied the course under Khmelevskaya N. N. Ipaintedand drew a lot at home. After my youngest son’s birth in 1992, I became keen on lacquer miniature painting. I loved the Fedoskino style the most (www.russianlacquerart.com/gallery/Fedoskino). I have exhibited my lacquer miniatures in art galleries in Kharkiv and Moscow (plates, matrioshkas, eggs, boxes, etc). I’ve been painting with oil on canvas since 1999. My most loved genre of painting is landscape. Iworkbyinspirationaswellas to order. I love to paint the countryside and urban landscapes now, as well as still-life. I adhere to a realistic painting style. My paintings are in private collections in Ukraine, Russia, other European countries and USA. Iadmire the talent of Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio and Jacques-Louis David. Among the impressionists I like Édouard Manet paintings the most. I adore the Russian Itinerants (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peredvizhniki): Repin, Surikov, Levitan, Vasnetsov. Among contemporary authors I’mimpressedby the works of Steve Hanks, Pino Daeni, Yury Obukhovskiy, Dmitriy Annenkov and many-many others. Paintingismylife.
