Concept

Maria is passionate about horses connecting with them through her paintings. Using mix media she expreses deep-felt emotions through the horse’s eyes, their powerful and elegant figures, their pure spirit and nobility, frequently accompanied by the human touch in the form of a hand delicately hidden in the paintings, emerging as a magical revelation to connect human and nature as a whole. For her, art is a dance of energy to create movement, rhythm, light, shapes and colors flowing between the artist and the expectator to evoke sensations and feelings.

Biography

Born in Colombia, she started drawing and painting at the age of five. She discovered her passion for horses as a teenager when she joined an equine academy. Maria holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, finishing her MBA a few years later with academic honors.

She attended art lessons for 12 years and her studies and work allowed her to live in US, Spain and Colombia, constantly traveling around the world, which she used for inspiration in her paintings.

Using mixed media, acrylic, ink, charcoal, collage, hand-made paper, aged books, musical partitures, texture and other mediums she creates drawings and paintings capturing horse´s soul.
