Concept

I've always thought that more than anything else, art is an expression of mood and state of mind. With age as my benefactor I am now able to see that I have experienced the see saw effect of depression & elation throughout my life. I believe that is what has made painting so healing for me. Now I am grateful for the influence of meditation as well as a wonderful psychologist in helping me understand myself and my vulnerabilities. I am an emotive painter. In the past my paintings have been overshadowed by my feelings and mood. Now I live more in the moment and my feelings no longer overshadow my work. The subject is my focus . I express the emotion of the subject rather than my feelings or mood.

Biography

My name is Alan (Sandy) Muston. I am an impressionist artist with a studio in the Snowy Mountains of Australia.
I was born in Mosman N.S.W on 29/10/1949 to an established sailing family and grew up on yachts of all descriptions. At 18 years I was trialled for the Americas cup challenge and then began a long career playing Rugby Union. At the same time I quenched my love for the sea working in a ship chandlers and began manufacturing yachts.
My main passion has always been art, and I'm fortunate to be able to do it now for a living and to keep me living.
