Maristela Ono is a Brazilian contemporary artist, who considers art as a source of inspiration and the main means of expression of her vision (which she understands as always limited, distorted and changeable) of life, the world and the universe, as well as concepts, emotions, ideas, perceptions and sensations she experiences, whether in the real or imaginary world, through different techniques and technological resources (visual, tactile, sound, amongst others). Based on a transdisciplinary approach, she aims at broadening and deepening her and other people's vision of the complexity and diversity of life. In addition, she aims at promoting actions and conduct based on individual, civic, humanitarian and planetary ethics.
Her artworks have consisted mainly of paintings (with acrylic and mixed techniques) and multimedia installations, which combine simple everyday life materials and objects such as strings, bicycle rings, umbrellas, and more complex technological resources such as optical fibers, sound sensors, amongst others. She has been inspired by the complexity of nature, human kind and the universe. She has often integrated light as a protagonist in her works, exploring visual effects such as luminescence, seeking to sensitize, broaden and deepen people's perspective.
