The artwork of St. Ion is filled with longing for the primitive and even savage. The style was significantly influenced by the art and mythology of barbarian peoples: from the steppe peoples to the Scandinavians, as well as the demonology and traditions of Tibetan Buddhism. At the same time, something subtle, fragile and sharp is constantly visible in his works, which gives him an attentive contemplator immersed in himself. The worlds that the artist creates seem to require him to spend many days in prayer: they are both disturbing and soothing, being permeated with exciting images based on pagan archetypes. His work can best be described as savage and meditative, full of fluid unstable forms.
