Originally from France, Magali is a visual artist based on the Sunshine Coast in Australia since 2018.
She grew up in an artistic environment where painting has quickly become a way to connect with others as much as to express herself. After studying in art school, her professional life took another direction, and she has had a successful career as a private chef for nearly 20 years. She has never stopped creating and saw her move to Australia as the opportunity to return her entire focus to her passion.
Refusing to link her practice to a single signature style, or technique, she playfully mixes genres and mediums to create lively and expressive artworks. She has been exploring different subjects and has developed a particular interest in human figures. The driving force behind it is an enduring fascination for people, both in their representational and emotional forms.
"Alike a writer, I love to give life to unique characters but in an apparent form. There is an amazing energy that occurs when painting a human being! I think of my work as a celebration and affirmation of life. How we relate or identify to each other, to our environment, and to ourselves. It’s not so much about how we look, it’s about who we are!"
Each piece has its own narrative. Whether they evoke femininity, identity, or cultural diversity, her approach is to use faces as a window to tell (their) stories and convey emotions to the viewers. The visual aesthetic and symbolism also play a very important part and are inextricably linked to her creative process.
Magali thrives in sharing her creations and making people feel through her art. Her work has been showcased in several exhibitions in Brisbane, Gold Coast, and the Sunshine Coast and she is passionately working at developing her current body of work and keep growing as an artist.
