Michael W. Miller comes from a long line of artists and creators. Among his first teachers were his grandmother, renowned artist and weaver Azalea Thorpe, and her husband, Lloyd Kiva New, who co-founded the Institute of American Indian Arts.

When Lloyd was called upon for Michael care, he gave Michael paint and brushes--and feathers, beads and fur along with plenty of advice.

Those Southwest influences are apparent in Michael’s bright colors and bold designs--although Michael’s work is also distinctly inspired by the beauty of West Marin, California, where he lives and paints.
Michael’s artwork is receiving awards and gaining in popularity both in California and internationally.
