Concept

I am inspired by plant elements and I build collections, accumulations, overlays. I like to play with colors, contrasts and repetitions. I like to play with shapes and spaces between shapes. I’m looking for a structure in this profusion. Every new creation is an attempt to bring order to the chaos of the world. Painting is simple, it's easy. I'm not looking for anything. I don't think about it. It's here. It just comes by itself. It's obvious. It can't be said, it can't be looked for, it can only be painted. I'm not doing anything extraordinary. I may not be making anything up, but I don't mind. Creation is a path, and in this path, I advance, I only advance.

Biography

Born in 1959 in France, living and working in the Netherlands, Florence Oulhiou has always been interested in visual arts and practiced analogic photography for many years. She used structure and contrast to build strong compositions. Not attracted by digital photography, she turned late to drawing and painting.
She began the study of painting as a self-taught. She travels often in Germany, France, Netherlands and Belgium, and became a « Urban Sketcher ».
She quickly felt the need to go further and completed a full course at the « Ecole des Beaux-Arts » in France. Then she worked several years with her masters Marc Fonvieille, then with Isabelle Monférier.
Acrylic painting is her favourite field. However, her creative spirit pushes her in search of innovative sensations. Curious about discoveries, she also devotes herself to engraving and creating small mixed-media formats. She still uses to fill a lot of sketchbooks with watercolors and drawings.
Well balanced structure and playing with contrast are still the key points of her work.
The artist solved the figurative-abstract problem by creating a series of original works based on the proliferation of vegetal motifs, playing with shapes and colors, where, however, a perceptible emotion reigns. Outside of any label, his eclectic production offers us a singular and unclassifiable art.

She has participated in several exhibitions and is represented by art galleries at the international level.
