Concept

I generally work with acrylic on canvas or paper, in various dimensions. I like the speed and lightness of acrylic paint; of its quick drying and its many possibilities. I almost always work with brushes and a spatula and sometimes with other alternative techniques. The influences are many. The universe of the abstract and its derivations is immense, I could not put myself in a concrete style. Each painting, planned or spontaneous or with a mixed approach, always ends up becoming a new adventure, seeking to capture feelings, sometimes very concrete and other times, more diffuse, which during the creative process are transformed into images; some of them, smooth and others, turbulent, in a constant search for the approximation between intention and result. I could not fail to mention the influence of musicality, in my work, because it is a very important part, in all my artistic experiences.

Biography

EDILSON PLA, was born in Jaguarao in a small town in southern Brazil.
Since very young he showed a strong inclination for artistic expression and as a teenager, he held his first paintings exhibition in his hometown. During his youth, he moved to the Rio de Janeiro city and studied art and cinema, at the prestigious Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro. His first short film UM BREVE MERGULHO (A Brief Dive), written and directed by him, wins two awards for best film, in two film festivals; The 4th. Short Films Day and the National Short Films Festival. During the following years he writes and directs several short films, including JONGO, a project and film awarded by FUNARTE and exhibited at the Center Pompidou, Paris.
Finally, he moves to Barcelona where he continues his artistic career by participating in several productions and teaching.
Nowadays he dedicate himself exclusively to plastic arts, and more specifically, to painting, which is his genuine passion.
