"My style and concept is melting. I like the melting moment, the thawing part, and I often use it in my work and as a concept.
I was influenced by studying abroad. I enrolled in an art school in England and dropped out, but I learned a lot, and in particular it was a time when I was very much confronted with Japan, which is my identity. I learned about the beauty of transience, the beauty of imperfection, and the fear of nature, all of which are unique to Japanese people, and at the same time, my sense of Japaneseness was sharpened. Because of this experience, I realized that I love the moment of 'melting' that represents the ephemerality and imperfection, and I wanted to express it again."
