Maryda Geraci is an artist born in Naples in 1967, graduated in Set Designer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples in 1993. She worked as an assistant costume designer,graphic designer, interior designer and fiction illustrator collaborating in various national and international publications of children books.Her artistic research has developed over the years, in a figurative path ranging from watercolor to oil painting, to acrylic. "Her sense of proportion, harshness in the world, interlace of feelings and the difficulties of being human” are found in the works on canvas grouped in series, stand out by subjects: marine inhabitants, zoomorphic elements, plants, insects, assemblages of natural elements collected over time, are the themes represented in the ‘fil rouge’ of her creative language aimed at the personal search for lightness. “Her perspective goes past introspection, rather than a precept meandering through alleys and streets made of shadowy whys and wherefores, and her station point becomes her paintings which is simply, fresh. But the details, the painstaking finishes, the coexistence of future and classicism, the technique that the Academy tells about, make it a whole new world to discover. A feature that is a frequent feature of many of her works is the use of transparencies, of dreamy x-rays of fish, places and animals: ionizing radiations which lay bare the intimacy of her thoughts on the issues of the world.
