Concept

My work is all about enlightenment, revelation and a higher perspective of the mind, the body and the spirit - be it in the figure or the landscape. I'm fascinated by the geometric shapes particularly the triangle shape and it connection with the spiritual realm, from ancient architecture, to religion and culture. I use only triangle shapes to draw and complete the entire artwork or object by drawing geometric lines that forms triangles till I complete the whole image. When I craft my artwork it's me working through the gateway of understanding God, people and nature. I'm more interested in the inner world, inner personalities and inner realities, I use a variety of materials – Fineliner, Ink, Ballpen, Acrylic, Mixed media and Collage to get in touch with my subject matter. My goal is to inspire and lead my audiences to the gateway that leads to inner realms and spaces of higher consciousness.

Biography

Nhlonipho Mchunu was born in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. Nhlonipho is an emerging artist, he has a Diploma in visual communication and graphic design. From an early age he demonstrated an innate artistic talent and continued to bring his creative passion to fruition.

Nhlonipho Mchunu was born in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. Nhlonipho is an emerging artist, he has a Diploma in visual communication and graphic design. From an early age he demonstrated an innate artistic talent and continued to bring his creative passion to fruition.

After his matriculation in 2014 he went to Durban university of technology and took an Art extended course class of 2015 to study the basics of Drawing, painting and illustration. In 2016 he won the most creative artist at Derby Res. In 2018 he was the semi-finalist in the poetry competition at Durban university of Technology. In 2019 After obtaining his Diploma in visual communication and Graphic Design, he moved back to his hometown Pietermaritzburg where he currently resides. In 2020 He exhibited at Community ZA with other local creative artists in KZN, South Africa.

His art reflects his interest in the spiritual world, culture, religion and astronomy, his art come from the experiences (struggles, pains, and joys) of relating to and understanding God, people,
and himself as a visual artist%00.
