Born in Kanagawa Prefecture. He has been vaguely fond of the ocean since he was a child. After becoming a working adult and experiencing a life away from the sea, he realized the importance of the sea, retired from his job, and set out on a journey. He is always looking for a moment of comfort, the best moment he found on his travels, and the changes in nature that he tends to miss. The work depicts relaxation, liberation, and life choices that lie ahead, affirmation to the viewer that it is okay to spend time in this way, and the possibilities of life in AMI OTSUKA's own way. She is active in Japan and abroad, holding solo exhibitions and creating wall paintings in her unique retro yet new Beachful style expressed in pink and light blue.
