Eileen Tsoi was strongly inspired by impressionism and surrealism. She admires the coloring techniques and the use of symbolism, which therefore has become a major influence in her painting style and technique. Her paintings mainly describe a freewill spirit from society. Animals are often used as a subject in her paintings to metaphorically show a dreamers’ inner emotions, which are consistently conveyed through the heavy brushwork. Somehow during this period of a tough era, it distorted the valid reason for humans to live and survive, which the moments of comfortable breathing, relaxing, and resting without pressure slowly fade away. These animals follow their true feelings without any restrictions and barriers, just like a painter’s brush movements, nakedly describing her feelings with incalculable brushstrokes and using them to tell stories to her listeners. Eileen illustrates her own imagery, putting herself in the painting, communicating with the animals, and thinking deeply about the process of finding our balanced selves in this disturbed society.
