My name is Aybek Kumushaliyev, 38 years old, I was born in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. I spent all my childhood in the city, like all the children went to kindergarten, then to school. While studying at school, I was fascinated by reading books. Favorite genres in those years were adventures and science fiction stories, especially liked the books of Jules Verne and Alexander Belyaev. Probably, to a greater extent, after reading many books, the imagination and ability to fantasize began to develop.
At about the age of 12, a desire to draw appeared, first I tried to draw with a pencil, pen, then watercolor. It was mainly copying images that I liked, cartoon heroes, famous personalities, objects. Then, when I mastered watercolor, I painted mountains and seascapes.
When school was coming to an end, the question was what university to enter, what specialty. Since the profession of an artist in our country was not considered stable, I also chose the creative profession of an interior designer. In parallel to my studies, I went to study with artists privately, gaining the knowledge that I thought I needed.
So, gradually I practiced more and more in working with oil paints, mastering and getting used to their colors and drawing features on canvas.
I have always been closer to the philosophy of free thinking in creating paintings, so I never aspired to get an academic art education, where training goes according to templates and there is little room for personal creativity and imagination. Moreover, the outdated Soviet teaching methods still remain in our country.
After university, I began to work as an interior designer, and unfortunately, there was not much time left in my life for the artistic direction. But nevertheless, I continued to draw. First, my relatives and friends ordered paintings from me, then friends of friends, and so on. My paintings are found in private collections in Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Dubai.
Currently, I also work in my specialty, as it is a stable job, but more and more time is devoted to the main passion of my life, creating paintings. Now I am more interested in the direction of abstractionism, in it I see more philosophy, dynamics and freedom. In the near future, I plan to prepare for a personal exhibition in my city, and then, I hope, I will be able to organize exhibitions in other countries.
