Diego Rey's work is marked by the investigation of space and the way in which we imagine, create, travel, question and represent them, he asks what is there when there is no space, what happens when we stop imagining it, how do we reoccupy it Art is the way to fill that void, how it does it. The series of works exhibited are works made in acrylic on canvas, which are based on drawings of corners, floors, ceilings and details of architectural spaces that are later deconstructed through the transformation of the elements, the use of color or the contrast of treatments. The images created by Rey pose places that can be interior or exterior, placing the viewer a question under an improbable setting, thus playing with the sense of relativity about the place in which the observer is located. In some works, the transformation of the initial drawing reaches points where it is difficult to recognize the corner of a site or the floor of a certain space, placing the image at a point of almost absolute loss of the referent, becoming a space of abstraction and concept . The result seeks to generate new indefinite places in which the line is a floating element, perceived many times from its presence and others from its absence, highlighting the relative nature of the factors with which the space is defined. In line with the aforementioned, the gestures of the planes and the use of superimposed layers of color give the impression of being a background and on other occasions a form, feeding the ambiguity of the proposed spaces.

As an artist, he has been selected and distinguished on various occasions, obtaining scholarships and international awards: Accésit 2009, Center d'Art La Rectoria; Second Prize 2011, Cal Gras Art Residence; Artist Selected for the 2018 Guash Coranty Foundation Painting Award; Artist selected for the 10th International D'Art Ruidebitlles Biennial award, 2018. Selected for the 2020 catalog of contemporary artists of Florence Gallery, Italy. Artist published in Aesthetica magazine # 94 Apr / May 2020 and # 99 February / March 2021, England. Artist selected to exhibit at the MundoArti 2020 Virtual Museum. First prize, Mixmedia category, of the V International Art Contest Askatasun Arte "Let's be Refuge" 2020.
He held individual exhibitions in different places both in America and Europe: 'Vacíos', Recoleta Cultural Center, Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (2003); 'Stories of a micropolitical III'. Installation in the Vichi Mill, Novilara, Italy (2012); Between - surfaces, Argentine Consulate in Barcelona, Barcelona (2019), among others.
Professor at the National University of La Plata between 1998 and 2012.
He worked in cultural management for the Ministry of Culture of the Nation, Government of Argentina, in the period 2005-2008.
Since 2017 he has been a member of the selection jury for the international residence of the Arxiu Comarcal de l'Urgell, Tàrrega.
Between 2014 and 2019 he was part of the Ferran Adrià team. He currently collaborates with creative and exhibition projects at elBulliFoundatio
