Alessia Ramazzotti was born in Soresina (Italy) on April 8, 1981. After graduating from the I.I.S Bruno Munari School of Art in Crema (Italy) in 1999, she continued her studies at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. Imperfect women surrounded by nature, sometimes accompanied by animals as protective talismans, are the main theme that characterizes her artistic work. Looking at her paintings, the spiritual connection between women and the lunar phases is strong; a link with nature. The female body and the female cycle are connected with the Moon and the Earth. The woman, through her menstrual cycle, goes through the different lunar energies (waxing, full, waning and dark). These in turn are connected with the different seasons (spring, summer, autumn and winter). Formerly rites were performed and stories were told explaining this relationship. Thus, since childhood, the girls had another understanding of themselves, their body and their menstruation. They understood it as "sacred" and not as something dirty or annoying that they should hide. “I have always found it particularly interesting to represent the female figure trying to exalt the anatomical part and the most introspective and tormented aspect of her being and appearing. The paintings reflect the restless sensuality of the woman and that feeling of inadequacy that will influence the key stages of her own life: the first menstruation (the transition from a girl to a young woman), sex, motherhood and menopause. . Phases that strongly affect both the physical, also the psychological-emotional. As a woman, I try to capture the different facets, interpreting in a dramatic way and exalting that uncertainty that characterizes all women in today's society ”.
