I started to photograph in 2014, finding in photography the necessary tool to investigate and express internal issues. My main production themes are blackness and affirmation of identity of young Afro-Brazilians.

Biography

Vitória Macedo (Porto Alegre, 1994) is a visual artist, graduated in Photography by UNISINOS. Her recent trajectory has received attention for works exploring the construction of black women's identity and the historical traumas of young Afro-Brazilian women. She was a finalist in the French Alliance of Contemporary Art Award (Porto Alegre, 2020) and in the Anapolino Salon (Anápolis, 2020). The works of the Maafa series were exhibited at Iberê Camargo Foundation composing the group show Da Diáspora, 2019. The artist has also exhibited at the Pinacoteca Ruben Berta of the Porto Alegre City Hall (Paço Municipal, 2019) and at the Black Brazil Biennial (Casa de Cultura Mario Quintana, 2019).
