Concept

Judy creates vibrant, contemporary paintings inspired by the natural world. She enjoys capturing the essence of flowers or landscapes, stylising them and making them her own with expressive marks and patterns. Experimenting with contrast and colour, Judy plays with bold backgrounds and opposite colours in her mark-making to add an extra dimension to her work. The results are energetic, colourful, statement pieces which celebrate nature whilst creating something decorative to liven up interior spaces. Judy paints intuitively but bases her designs on reference images to inform tone and shape, and likes to have a colour palette in mind. The rest emerges as part of the creative process! Judy’s paintings are uplifting and expressive and celebrate the beauty of the natural world with a contemporary twist.

Biography

“I love the escapism of creating something out of nothing, and I take every opportunity to experiment with colour, pattern and scale.”

Art has always been my passion and since childhood I've spend most of my spare time creating. After studying Art at A-level, I decided to keep it as a hobby and went onto study Human Sciences at Oxford University. After a successful career in the corporate world, lockdown 2020 provided my with the opportunity to follow my dreams and make art my full time career. I've exhibited in local galleries and sold at art fairs and some of my work is on display at the Wynd Gallery, Letchworth, UK.
