Andrea Cochius completed her training as a stone sculptor in Berlin. She then took up art studies at the Kunsthochschule Kassel. There she was a member of the basic class led by Stefan Demary, the class for film by Björn Melhus, as well as the class for free graphics under the care of Jochen Kastrup.
For the project Bio-graphical Short Stories, she travelled through India in 2012 and collected life stories there, which she gave a face to at the sketchpad: she interviewed and drew young and old people, poor and rich. The drawing stories she created in this way are the result of everyday encounters on the streets of India.
Her activity as an art blogger and her preoccupation with themes and trends of the time earned her an invitation to the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2014. Another project was the illustration of the poetry book "Leicht ist mein Herz" by Marion Hinz.
Since January 2018, Andrea Cochius has been a participant in the meetings and cinematic documentarian of the group Arbeit an Europa. She wants to contribute to the awareness of European culture and to see its treasures handed down to an optimistic future. She dreams of a society that welcomes emotional involvement and deep commitment. A society whose liveliness is fed by values such as sympathy, imagination and seriousness. In her view, an increase in liveliness is especially possible through the admission of feelings and the courage to self-reflect. With her EUROPEAN VISIONS project, she therefore wants to change perspectives from the artist to the other person. She wants to promote self-reflection, as well as the courage to know one's own heart and to turn its wishes into reality. Therefore Andrea Cochius paints what is important to others. She paints the dreams and visions of our fellow human beings.
