Unlike most artists, Duin hasn't been painting all of her life. In contrary she started painting after an intense career in the fashion industry. First she launched a clothing line, one thaty sold very well on cruises and fairs, she made almost 50 trips on the cruiseship Brittannia and organised fashionshows everyday and sold the showed cloths in her boutique on board. After that she made a career move launching a modelling agency, one that developed as one of the market leaders in the Netherlands. After 21 years as a castingdirector and owner she sold the agency in 2002.
After traveling a lot she started in 2004 with painting. Although her work has its spiritual parts, they don't contain messages. The only purpose they serve is to enlighten people. Duins paintings contain a lot of flowers and the subjects are often light. Duin explains it's in her personality to be optimistic. When it is raining you never hear her say: oh it's raining again. No she sees the beauty in it. Look at those drops, that light, those lines!, Her way of looking proves an artist's observation.
