David Val of Colombian Nationality trained as a publicist before dedicating himself to photography at the end of 2003, studies carried out at the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in Industrial Design, then at the Institute of Arts in the city of Medellín led him to obtain the title as Publicist. He worked for 8 years in the area of pre-press for printed media, at the same time that he developed his studies in professional photography at the Institute of Arts, a career that he did not manage to finish due to labor issues, but that he complemented for 3 more years with the Master Alberto Montoya Callejas in the city of Medellín. His concern for the rigor of the treatment of color in printed media led him to commercial photography, working as a photographer for large brands such as ‘Grupo EXITO’ (Employee funds of the ‘Grupo EXITO’), Salud SURA, various Colombian food companies and a multitude of micro-companies in the sector. His concern for the image inherited from his father, led him to overflow all the knowledge acquired in a project that he founded with his wife Ana María Gallego V. called HUMAN MARK. Project that roughly works in documentary photography in Colombian areas of conflict, work that he cares as if it were his son until today.

David had a photographic history parallel to the entire commercial and documentary issue and it was the creation of artistic photography, silently creating a knowledge and an archive of personal images during these years until today.
Lover of shadows, alchemist of color and deeply in love with Black and White, the path led him to specialize in color management and administration for print and digital media, as well as in the development of his own technique for making images in black and white, based on the techniques of great photographers, but above all on images that his father produced in an analogous way in the 60s and 70s. Then he professionalized in colorization of film-format photography.
