She paints themes which help her explore perspectives, a feeling of space and distance.......architecture of Indian temples, forts, pillared halls, palaces, doorways of traditional Indian homes, deep tranquil forests.....the eye explores hidden nooks and corners of her canvas.

Texture is an integral part of her paintings. She mainly uses a palette knife. Bold strokes of the palette knife add varying textures on her canvas.

Jaya uses colours that are bright and happy. She wants to create moods that are upbeat.

Light and shadow are an important part of her art.....adding to the sense of perspective.

She wants each of her paintings to bring about a sense of happiness and tranquility.
