Concept

I completed the bachelor's and master's programs in sculpture at Hongik University in Seoul Korea, and completed the antique furniture restoration design course at Istituto Superiore di Architettura e Design (ISAD) located in Milan Italy. The artwork is made by cutting colored thin wood with natural pigments according to the design and attaching it to the wood panel. This method originated from the Italian antique furniture restoration technique, and was inspired by the wooden inlay technique called intarsio or marquetri, which is characteristic of furniture in the Lombardy region of Italy. The shapes expressed and appearing in the work are mainly about space and structure. From the preparatory work of the wood panel to make the work, the natural pigment coloring process of the wood, which is the main material of the work, to the surface finishing of the finished work more than 5 times. I am doing all the processes myself with the attitude of a furniture craftsman who makes old furniture.
