Born in Donosti-San Sebastián (Spain), resident in Hendaye (France), trained in Fine Arts and Design at Kunsthal, with professional experience in the development of corporate identity, as displayed at international fairs.
After eight years as a graphic designer, she returned to brushes and oils in a nostalgic quest for the muse that first drew her to the profession. Motherhood is the decisive experience that has caused her to see her relationship with the arts in a new light. Childhood memories of the feeling of working with clay, a medium with which she would continue to work from time to time, would become a touchstone both in the inception and in the process of her work. She soon began to sell her work through various online platforms in France.
A traveller by nature, and a lover of the improvised journey, the backpack and the train, her journeys across Europe, Latin America, several trips to Asia, and her connections with Australia, serve as an inexhaustible inspiration in her work. Last but not least, in a less academic but perhaps more meaningful sense, Junkal has always formed part of a family of dressmakers. The themes of womanhood and dressmaking are ever-present in her work and in her approach.
