Atsuo Yokoyama asks himself, "What does painting mean to me? What do I want to do with painting? to himself. When Atsuo Yokoyama paints, there are two things that are important to him. "A painting is a record of thought processes. In the course of our lives, we think, worry, make decisions, and cover something with something. I think painting is one of the best tools to visualize this "thought process". In my case, the less the "thought process" is mended, the closer I feel to it. In fact, the more I draw it, the more correct it is, but the less so, the more familiar I feel with the work. "Nothing in this world is fixed, and like the chemical changes of molecules, the materials of this world are always changing and flowing." This is the Buddhist concept of "the impermanence of all things. From my own background of growing up as a farmer, I have continued to create works using nature and animals as motifs. There has never been a time like the present when we are forced to think about what nature is. The world is always imperfect, and human beings are just one of the frameworks of nature, and we cannot go against the great flow. We can't go against the flow of nature. Forcing yourself to be normal by covering the surface is against nature. I think that the act of "painting" is the easiest way to convey this idea. Atsuo Yokoyama's works are based on the idea of "letting nature take its course and recording the process of thought.
