Biography

Martins Krumins
Born in Riga (in 1961) painter and photographer, also worked as a lecturer at several Universities and Art Academies in Latvia and Lithuania. Graduated from Liepaja Applied Art School / Latvia / (1982), Art Academy of Latvia (1991) and Siauliai University, Faculty of Arts / Lithuania / (1996), holds a master degree in art.

Performed 20 solo exhibitions in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. Has participated in numerous international exhibitions and projects in Lithuania, Estonia, Hungary, USA, Austria, France, Slovakia, Russia, Sweden and Belgium.

“Martins Krumins paints abstract compositions and landscapes. His photographs have featured two tendencies: shooting minute details and displaying them considerably enlarged which make the photos look almost abstract, and developing an even closer link between photography and painting as can be observed in his Rundale series where next to photographed garden motifs he has also placed studies painted by him.”
