Ry An painted post-impressionist landscapes throughout rural Japan for 11 years, returning to the US in 2012 to pursue an MFA in illustration.
Now he is painting a series of vulnerable animals trying to escape from a dangerous forest with recycled paper sculptures of these same characters.
