Mamiko Mantoko is a contemporary artist who challenges to "reconstruct the beauty painting. She depicts human vitality through women.
She started her career as an artist in 2021. In August 2023, she participated in a group exhibition at GINZA SIX Artglorieux Gallery, a gallery owned by Daimaru-Matsuzakaya, together with Yayoi Kusama and others, and is highly anticipated in the contemporary art world.
In addition, seven of his works were exhibited in his solo exhibition "Do girls dream of Electric City?" at TRiCERA in the same month, two in the "Christmas Miracle" exhibition held in December, and nine in the "27" exhibition held in January 2024, all of which sold out.

Impressions after the solo exhibition
Compared to past exhibitions, this exhibition made me think more deeply about the concept of "what kind of solo exhibition" and "what kind of artist I am going to present my works as.
It took me a very long time to come up with the concept of the project, and I really felt that I had to face the creation of the works while worrying about them.
It was painful to keep thinking about the work all the time, and I had to be prepared as if I was going to have to cut the work down myself.
Because of this, I believe that I was able to create a work that expresses emotions that are difficult to verbalize and that will resonate with the viewer.
Because I had been thinking about this theme for a long time, the words came easily when I talked with visitors to the exhibition.
The other thing I struggled with was how to strike a balance between the idea of "this is what I want to paint" that comes from within me and the influence of outside opinions and other people's works that I have seen.
If I only use my own ideas, I will end up with the same kind of work, but if I only reflect the opinions and influences of others, I will end up asking myself, "Is this really something Mantis Mantis has created? If you only reflect outside opinions and influences in your work, you will end up asking yourself the question, "Was this really created by Mantis?
I have struggled for a long time to find a balance between the two.
However, I felt that if I continued to face this conflict, I would be able to create good works.
Idea for the next work
In "27," I created the work with an awareness of the daily lives of real women, but next time I would like to create a work with a worldview without logic.
Of course, I will continue to depict the "strength of women.
I am currently thinking of a work in which flowers and women are depicted together.
I have been wanting to express the beauty and finiteness of flowers in my work for some time.
I plan to present it at my next exhibition, so I hope that those who came to the show this time will have a chance to see it again.
