Abstract painting is a genre of painting in which all the shapes, colors and solids on the screen, as well as the traces of actions, are painted only for their own sake.
Abstract painting does not attempt to represent the shapes, colors, and three-dimensionality of reality as it is visible to the eye.
Instead, some works are born from the subjective reality that the artist senses or from a simple trigger, such as "this is what I got when I moved my brush like this.
What does "abstract" mean?
Strictly speaking, the word "abstraction" means to take something else out of something, something of a higher dimension, or a more basic element.
And such abstraction in the sense of "bringing something out" is exactly in line with the meaning of "abstract painting" in art. An abstract painting would be one that simplifies or figures out objects, figures, landscapes, etc.
Painting as something pure
Often the geometric patterns used in abstract paintings or traces of some action, such as graffiti, have no particular image source (source).
Some artists prefer the name Concrete Art or Non-Objective Art rather than Abstract.
Abstract painting is often associated with qualities such as "purity" and "spirituality," and is sometimes considered a symbol of a certain aesthetic, divine, or moral nature.
It is no exaggeration to say that abstract painting is the largest trend in modern art that began in the early 20th century, and is a huge trend within the art world.
From here, let's take a look at actual abstract painting works by both representative artists.
Wassily Kandinsky.
Kandinsky is considered the founder of abstract painting.
He is considered a pioneer of abstract painting along with Piet Mondrian and Kazimir Malevich.
One day, a painting hanging in his studio radiated an "inner radiance," as if he could not tell what was painted, but the shape and color alone made the painting work.
In fact, it was just his painting hanging upside down.
From then on, he realized that motifs (objects to be painted) were unnecessary and set out to create purely beautiful paintings.

Kazimir Malevich
Malevich also laid the groundwork for abstract painting at its dawn.
His most famous work, "Black Squares," depicting only black squares on a white background, is one of the starting points of today's abstract paintings, and in 1915 he published his "Suprematist Manifesto," a painting theory that held purity to be absolute, thus launching the great art movement known as abstract painting.

Kazimir Malevich, Dynamic Suprematism (1915 or 1916)
Joan Miró
Born in a small village in a rich natural setting, Miró began his artistic career as a miniaturist, depicting landscapes in minute detail. His work is characterized by rich colors and intensely deformed motifs.

Maurice Lewis
Lewis has been called a color field painter. In this work, he used a technique known as staining, in which he dripped fluid acrylic paint onto a raw canvas and allowed the paint to soak into the ground of the canvas.
In the American Modernism that followed them, the physical properties of the canvas were strictly observed to ensure the "flatness" of the painting.
Morris Louis, Alpha-Phi (1961)
Piet Mondrian.
Co-founder of the De Stijl art movement, he pursued "universal beauty.
He is also famous as an artist who developed non-figurative expression and named it "neoplasticism.
