Welcome to TRiCERA
Hi there! We are pleased to have you here 🎉
Could you please describe yourself?
Guest
Tomohiro Todoroki, born in Tokyo in 1974, is popular among people of all ages for his paintings of vehicles drawn with dynamic brush strokes under the one and only title of"Artist/Vehicle Painter".
Artist Statement
I use the motifs of vehicles that I loved as a child and paint them using cubist techniques. At first, I started with cars from the 1970s that I had actually seen. Now I draw a wide range of vehicles from modern to prewar cars.
Rather than painting well, I want to create works that are not descriptive but capture the essence of the subject, like Picasso's pottery works or works created by children.
Art has a lot of power, but I want to create only positive works that make viewers happy. That is why I always title my solo exhibitions "HAPPY DRIVE!
When I exhibit in Japan, I am sometimes told that people think my works are by foreign artists.
When I exhibit overseas, on the contrary, I am told that I can see traditional Japanese colors in some places and feel a sense of Orientalism! I have also been told, "I can see traditional Japanese colors in some places and feel Orientalism! My mother's side of the family is a mizuhiki craftsman, so perhaps that influence comes naturally to me.
I would like to continue to create works that make people happy.
