The history of photography began with capturing what is not true.
Photography, which developed rapidly after Daguerre invented silver-plate photography, was considered to transcend painting as an unprecedented method of realistic expression, and a certain faith was placed in its "truthfulness. At such a time, William Mumler's ghost photographs took people by surprise. In these photographs, dead people who could not possibly exist in real life were seen in the photographs along with the living. The photographs, which were realized using double exposure, or what is now known as compositing technology, seemed to people at the time to be nothing more than reality.
In other words, at the dawn of photography, it was nothing more than a technique of shaping light by shining light back onto shadows projected on negative film.
What kind of "truth" do contemporary photographers project? Is there any difference between the modern photographic machine and the film photographic machine, which has become the mainstream for capturing colors on pixels instead of film? What can long exposures with constant and sustained exposure mean to the photographer?
This exhibition features photographic works that have a different context from paintings, but are always considered in terms of the art of the plane. You will find photographs with an intensity that appeals to both the senses and the intellect.
