1.A contemporary art gallery in the corner of a first-class hotel "MEDEL GALLERY SHU", located in the Imperial Hotel Plaza in Ginza, Tokyo, is a contemporary art gallery that opened in April 2018. This gallery has held more than 70 exhibitions so far, mainly of young artists. Many promising artists are featured, and some of them have become exclusive artists after the exhibition. Based on the concept that "everything of value is art," fashion, accessories, and jewelry appear in the same way as works of art. It is a gallery with a new atmosphere. 2.TAKANOSUKE YASUI: An artist who fuses painting and sculpture. One of the artists recently introduced by MEDEL GALLERY SHU is TAKANOSUKE YASUI, whose work is a fusion of painting and sculpture. YASUI's paintings and sculptures share a common "wrinkled" texture, and YASUI uses contemporary models as motifs to symbolize something between the dichotomy of reality and the ideal, creating an expression that blurs the line between painting and sculpture. In this exhibition, the artist will focus on the theme of Camille Claudel, Rodin's lover and sculptor. By using techniques that symbolize the space between things, she presents a spectacle that is like an emotion based on the gap between history and those of us who live in the present and also see the past. Unlike business, the everyday world we live in is not black and white. Yasui's work dramatically shows us this in the form of art. Takanosuke Yasui, The God Gone, 2020, Plaster/Cotton cloth/Acryl/Wood panel, 163.5×132.5cm Takanosuke Yasui, reservoir, 2020, Plaster/Cotton cloth/Acryl/Wood panel, 137×91.5cm 3.AZUSA NOZAWA: Pop and refreshing paintings that sharply refer to the environment surrounding sexuality. MEDEL GALLERY SHU is planning to introduce her work in an exhibition, and the artist to watch is Azusa Nozawa. Her characteristic is to draw immature boys and girls narrowly on the screen with a technique based on "sticker bombs". Sticker bomb refers to the technique of putting stickers on cars and motorcycles. Although it is a genre technique derived from street culture, Nozawa uses it to fill the screen with miscellaneous items that she collected in her childhood. Another characteristic of hers is the issue of sexuality. The boys and girls are depicted from a somewhat masculine perspective, but what she aims to do is to express a layered structure by putting the subjectivity and objectivity of sexuality into a single screen. The combination of structure (i.e., tiering) and expression (i.e., moving images) depicting the environment surrounding sexuality is what makes her a new artist.
