Mussels

Such clusters of mussels are a common occurrence on the coast of Portugal. Walking along a deserted beach on the Atlantic Ocean, I saw exposed rocks at low tide. They were completely covered with mussels. Their shells have already dried up under the warm sea wind. My attention was attracted by cobalt shadows on the rough surface of the shells, which emphasized the texture of their flaps. Small amber-colored pebbles stuck between the dense packaging of shells glowed like small lanterns.
