The ephemeral art of dancing in the forest

2020/09/01
Shinzo Okuoka

Fireworks, glass, cherry blossoms... The world is full of ephemeral things and objects. The world is full of ephemeral things and objects, and it is our fundamental human nature to find beauty in them.

Butterflies are the first of these ephemeral beings.

The irregular flapping of their wings, as if they are about to go away, the delicate form that seems to break if you touch it. Butterflies are like ephemeral art, with patterns on their wings that have bewitched many people.

Because of their beauty, butterflies have been used as subjects of paintings and designs, such as "peonies and butterflies" in Japanese Hanafuda. In this article, I would like to introduce the butterflies dancing on the canvas.
