農道で採った実を庭の空地で栽培した「ガガイモ」。古来のつる植物らしく繁殖力旺盛で困ったものの花がとてもかわいいのです。天乃羅摩船(アメノカガミノフネ/ガガイモの実を2つに割ったもの)に乗って渡来し、「大国主命」と共に国造りをした「少彦名命/スクナヒコナノミコト」にちなんで、絹糸のようなわた毛の種を飛ばすカガミの精を少女の姿で描きました。カガミはガガイモの古名です。技法:麻紙に卵黄テンペラ
The flowers of "Gagaimo" grown in a vacant lot in the garden from berries picked on the farm road are very pretty. The "Kagami no nymph," whosends seeds flying with silky hair, is depicted as a young girl. This work is inspired by the legend of "Sukunahikona no mikoto", who came to Japan in a shipcalled "Ameno-Kagamino-Fune" made of "Gagaimo" split in two and built the country with "Okuninushi no Mikoto".
