清姫が大蛇に変身し再会の約束を破って逃げた僧を追いかける。僧侶は寺の鐘の中に隠れ焼き殺された。法要の日、女は踊り子の「花子」として現れ、華麗な舞の後に本性を現し、再び大蛇に変身する。背景と前面は満開の桜で埋め尽くされ、華やかでドラマチックな舞台となっている。技法／絹本着色日本画
From the Kabuki play "Kyôganoko Musume Dojoji", Kiyohime transforms into a giant snake and chases after a monk who has broken his promise toreunite with her and fled. The monk hides behind the temple bell and is burned to death. On the day of the memorial service, the woman appears as a dancing "Hanako," and after a splendid dance, reveals her true nature and transforms into a giant snake again. The background and front are painted with cherryblossoms in full bloom, creating a gorgeous and dramatic setting.
