“ Shirakawa Hoho”was a man of intense love and hate. Hemourned his beloved wife "Kataiko" at a young age, and his beloved princess "Yasuko," whom he raised with great affection, died at the age of 21. Overcomewith grief, he shaved his head. His love for the young child like "Kaguyahime" whom he met in his old age was extraordinary, and he even refused a politicalvisit by the Kanpaku "Fujiwara no Tadazane" to keep the princess's feet warm in his bosom while she slept.
