Looking Down

Concept

There is a very delicate point where everything is balanced; the shapes, color, textures, tension, joy and humor. Reaching that point is not guaranteed. Sometimes you don’t get close, and sometimes, which is worse, you go right on past. There are combinations of elements that you learn will help with the process but often it is something entirely unexpected ... as often as not, a mistake, that makes you go - oh THERE you are. And so you are happy for a day. Then that night you wonder whether you will ever be able to find it again because it might have been a fluke today.

I don't make art to look like something. Rather, my images are an expression of things I have observed, experienced, felt or thought about in any given day. Sometimes the final image is an obvious reflection of recent events - other times, it seem to be entirely from my sub-conscious - perhaps, as are dreams. In either case, it makes naming my work very difficult because I want people to see and feel the piece through their own experience.
