    Description

The day was January 15th, the 1st day of my 30th birthday, I was inside a swimming pool looking to the sides, I was contemplating the sun above me that warmed every meter of that place, my eyes were capturing every subtle movement that there appeared, and around me, there were the most wonderful people that I had the pleasure of meeting, I felt welcomed, with every word and smile that I enjoyed that day, it sounded like a lyrical song that entered my ears and was drawn in my my thoughts, it was the mirage of an instant that I was witnessing and little by little I realized that I was immersed in it, suddenly everything was silent and I just wanted to admire every second of that moment. At that time, I had an idea, or we can call it a vision, I felt that a photo would not be enough to mark everything that was happening there, I just knew what I would draw to remember everything, I knew what shape I would immortalize and express that moment, I needed a piece of paper to sketch on, I would need to get out of that place and find something to scribble on, but I didn't want to miss a second of that occasion, but I had to do it, so I went out and recorded it the idea on paper.
This is the first canvas I painted with color, maybe my vision is getting more colorful, in fact, I saw everything in black and white before and still do today, but somehow, the colors started to appear for me. When I finished this canvas, I realized that my heart was in that moment, and the painting became a symbol of that moment. A canvas of me, for me.

  • About this artist

    Concept

"While the World Collapses" is the newest work by Pernambuco artist Wesley Sats. Executed in acrylic, the piece stands out for its intricate use of geometric shapes and a carefully chosen color palette to convey emotional depth.

In this work, Sats delves into the complexities of his own psyche, using the central figure of his alter ego, SAND, to explore feelings of disorder and hope. The character, depicted in a three-dimensional environment, appears lost in contemplation as chaos unfolds around him. The window with a view of the mountains and the rising sun symbolizes a point of serenity and constancy, contrasting with the character's internal turmoil.

The work reflects Sats' personal experience, referring to his childhood memories spent in the mountains and his constant search for peace in the midst of chaos. Through geometric patterns and fluid lines, he creates a visual narrative that resonates with the universal struggle of finding balance in times of crisis.

"As the World Collapses" invites the viewer to reflect on their own emotions and experiences, making a deep and personal connection with the work. This work is a powerful addition to Sats' portfolio, highlighting her unique talent for transforming complex memories and feelings into visually impactful art.
